Sides choosen
They go to their side of the wall
They hunker down
Because they are too tall
~
Grumbling start
it will not be long
before things fall apart.
~
Soon the insults start to fly
Each one worse
you wonder why
after all
They choose their side.
~
Soon things get tossed
a jab real quick
Hunker back down
before the other can stick.
~
Standing now
eying each others foe
Angry shouts
what a row!
~
Battle erupts
They fight with a vengeance
They are all now on the wall
sides chosen now forgotten
anger corrupts
~
OW! HEY!
That is it!
Get off me!
I yell.
You guys wanna fight?
You guys can sleep on the floor tonight!
~
All gets quiet
I stare them down.
nobody makes a single peep
They all hate the ground.
~
a few minutes later…….
~
Sides choosen
They go to their side of the wall
They hunker down
Because they are too tall
~
Grumbling start
it will not be long
before things fall apart.
~
GUYS!!!!!

Oh wow does this take me back some years! Before each of my sons had their own rooms where one could just walk away and close a door when annoyed at the other. Back when shared a bedroom and had to put up with each other. “On the ground” easily translatedto me as “grounded” the thing all children dread. You penned this well and I’m smiling so silly at the memories evoked – thank you!
yeah. they are terrors at that age. 🙂
Sounds like a lot of big families I’ve known when things get too hot to handle.
This has a nice rhythm to it, like the inevitability of the fight
It sounds like a dog or cats fighting to me. It’s usually the way cats fight. That’s what I make of it anyways. They can be really mean when they fight for real, too.
